My Eyes Are On You:

As I was QUIETLY in the process of putting my 1.5 yr old daughter down for an afternoon nap, my 3.5 yr old son came sprinting into her room with my phone BLARING in his hand and his face full of excitement.

“Mommy, Mommy, I found your favorite song!”

Eli LOVES music. And to be quite transparent with you all…I had left him pooping on the potty with music playing on my phone on the bathroom counter so I could go put his sister to bed (kid takes a while on the pot sometimes…). His favorite songs must have ended and he proceeded to scroll until he could find another. Hopefully AFTER finishing up and washing his hands, right?!

As I made out the words of the song, I recognized it to be a song I had recently started playing a lot in the background at home (and probably singing too ha).

“And through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
And through it all, through it all
It is well…”

Music really gets to me. I can be having the worst, most frustrating day, and hear one song and my mood TOTALLY shift.

So I sat in the rocking chair in Kate’s room, with both Eli & Kate on my lap, totally way past nap time, singing this song and thanking God for little moments like these. Moments when your heart could burst, and when you just know that everything is going to be okay. No matter what the future holds.

Moments orchestrated between God and my son, I believe. You see, MANY days I doubt my ability to do this. To conquer the mountain ahead. That day the demon of doubt was strong. But what I am constantly reminded is that “IT IS WELL” and my job right now is to keep my eyes on Him and TRUST. Trust that when I can’t, He CAN. And that God does not call the equipped, but rather equips the called.

“And through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
And through it all, through it all
It is well…”

And far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can’t see

And this mountain that’s in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea

And through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
And through it all, through it all
It is well…

So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name”

No matter what mountain you may be facing today, or may face tomorrow, I hope you will return to the lyrics of this song and find peace. Even when we cannot see…we are called to TRUST. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
